Parish Plan, Results Document and Action Plan

The process of preparing a Parish Plan for Surlingham has taken approximately 3 years. The process was made possible through the efforts of many local residents and through the Countryside Agency from whom the Parish Council received a grant to cover most of the costs.

The first phase involved consultation with as many organisations and individuals as possible, culminating in an Open Day held at the Parish Hall in May 2004, where the views and opinions of villages were collected on a wide range of issues.

The next step was to prepare a questionnaire, taking into account the feedback already received from the first phase. The questionnaire was delivered to every house in the Parish, and the volunteers delivering the questionnaire knocked at each house and, where possible, spoke to the householder and explained what the questionnaire was about and arranged for its collection.

Once the questionnaires were received, the data was collated and published, and once again we visited every house to deliver the results.

The final phase of the process was to prepare the Action Plan. This was a summary of the data collected with recommendations for action. Once again this was delivered to every house - this time enclosed in 11 Says.
